Industrial
ECVT-based imaging and inspection systems built for the demands of industrial environments.
ECVT Industrial, ECVT Colins, and ECVT Welins are all built on the same configurable-channel electrical capacitance volume tomography core — the measurement architecture behind every deployment, refined over years of sensor geometry research and hardware-level work to strip stray capacitance out at the switching stage.
ECVT Industrial is the base platform — continuous process monitoring inside operating vessels, resolving gas, liquid, and solid phase distributions in real time without process interruption. ECVT Colins applies that same physics to bulk material inspection, grading coal quality by moisture, ash, and density without sampling. ECVT Welins was developed out of the Industrial platform's process-imaging research to address a need it could not meet in-service: reading structural integrity from the exterior of solid structures, using T-configuration CMOS switching and sub-femtofarad precision to detect internal defects without cutting, radiation, or removal from service. Three instruments. One physics.
Continuous volumetric imaging of operating processes.
Multi-channel exterior array
Three-layer cylindrical sensor wraps the vessel exterior, in 8, 16, 32, or 64-channel configurations. No wall penetration, no contact with process fluid. Vessels from 1 to 60 inches; complex geometries including right-angle bends and T-junctions.
T-config CMOS switching
Cycles all electrode pairs. T-configuration eliminates parasitic stray capacitance at circuit level — achieving 0.21–0.42 fF resolution at four frames per second. FPGA-based quadrature phase detection synchronises all channels.
3D-NN-MOIRT reconstruction
Neural network multi-criterion optimisation maps measured capacitance to a true volumetric permittivity distribution — not stacked 2D slices. Baidillah's feed-forward neural network directly solves the non-linear forward problem, improving accuracy over linearised approaches.
Bulk material quality graded without sampling.
Exterior sensor mount
Planar or conforming array mounted on bunker walls, chute sections, or conveyor transfer points. No drilling, no contact with the coal stream, no sampling probes.
Sub-fF parasitic cancellation
T-configuration CMOS switching eliminates parasitic stray capacitance at circuit level — exposing genuine dielectric contrast between moisture, ash, and carbon content in dense bulk solids.
Volumetric quality map
3D sensitivity matrix reconstructs moisture, density, and composition gradients across the coal mass in real time — streamed to plant quality control systems.
Structural integrity from a single external face.
Planar or conforming sensor
Sensor geometry selected from Baidillah's 2013 comparison: planar for flat structures (welds, laminates), conforming for curved surfaces (pipes, vessels). No drilling, no coating removal, no interior access.
Sub-fF parasitic cancellation
T-configuration CMOS switching eliminates parasitic stray capacitance at circuit level — not in software. Dense solid media produce signals orders of magnitude smaller than fluid systems; this hardware architecture is what makes sub-femtofarad precision possible.
3D permittivity reconstruction
3D sensitivity matrix localises anomaly depth from a single external face. Voids carry near-zero permittivity; cracks interrupt continuity. Output: spatial map of voids, cracks, delaminations, and composition gradients — without radiation, extraction, or shutdown.
